Canadian Shield is an old land that is more than 2 billion years old. It
consists of many volcanic mountains that were leveled by million years of
erosion. It covers half of Canada. It also has varied climates because it covers so many different areas. The Northern part of the Canadian Shield has colder, longer winter which
means that they also have shorter and cooler summer.

Boreal forest covers
most of the Canadian Shield. Since trees in Canadian Shield are thin, they are more popular with the paper industry than lumbering industry. At the most northern part
of the Canadian Shield, there are no trees because of the extreme cold weather.
The climate isn't too great here and the land is unsuitable for agriculture, so this area is sparsely populated. The only good thing to this region is it has rich mineral deposits.
